Nine people were killed Wednesday night in Mexico at a presidential candidate rally after heavy winds collapsed the stage.
The candidate, Jorge Álvarez Máynez, was not injured but was taken to the hospital in the incident in the northeastern city of San Pedro Garza García, according the CNN.
At least 54 people were reportedly injured.
”What we experienced happened in just a few seconds: A gale came, a sudden wind, and unfortunately, it collapsed the stage, resulting in a fatal accident,” Álvarez Máynez told Reuters.
