Injured American airman hid in mountain crevice with only a pistol
The airman reportedly had little equipment and only a pistol.
New details emerged on Sunday concerning the member of the F-15 crew who was rescued in Iran Saturday evening.
The airman hid inside a mountain crevice to keep from being spotted by Iranian forces, CNN reported, citing two U.S. officials. He had scaled up to an elevation of 7,000 feet, equipped with a tracking beacon, communications device and a pistol.
The American commandos swarmed the area, and U.S. aircraft provided air support to clear the area as the injured airman was located.
In a social media post, President Donald Trump described the rescued airman as "really brave."
