International Court of Justice orders Israel to 'immediately halt' its 'military offensive' in Rafah

Israel's offensive "may inflict on the Palestinian group in Gaza conditions of life that could bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part," said the International Court of Justice President Nawaf Salam.

The top United Nations court ordered Israel to "immediately halt" its "military offensive" in Rafah in southern Gaza on Friday.

Israel must "immediately halt its military offensive, and any other action in the Rafah Governorate, which may inflict on the Palestinian group in Gaza conditions of life that could bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part," said International Court of Justice President Nawaf Salam.

Hamas is currently holding about 125 hostages since its Oct. 7 attack on Israel which resulted in the death of approximately 1,200 people.
