Countries in the Middle East allied with the U.S. are “not in a position to demand reparations," according to Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi.

Reuters reported that Gharibabadi made the comments in response to sources on Sunday saying that the U.S. might use Iranian assets to pay allies for damage that occurred during the war.

Iran’s assets were “neither war spoils for Washington nor a payment fund for its allies," Gharibabadi wrote in a post on X.

President Donald Trump said in an interview that aired on Sunday he would not move to unfreeze billions of dollars in Iranian assets before a formal peace agreement to end the US-Israel war with Iran.
