Iran preparing ballistic missile attack against Israel, senior U.S. official warns
The official says the U.S. government is ready to support Israel and help intercept whatever comes from Iran
The White House said on Tuesday that the U.S. government thinks Iran is preparing to launch an "ballistic missile attack against Israel," according to a CNN report citing a senior White House official.
“The United States has indications that Iran is preparing to imminently launch a ballistic missile attack against Israel. We are actively supporting defensive preparations to defend Israel against this attack. A direct military attack from Iran against Israel will carry severe consequences for Iran,” said a senior White House official in a statement.
The official said the U.S. government is ready to support Israel and help intercept whatever comes from Iran, a US official said.
In April, the U.S. provided assistance to Israel when Iran sent drones and missiles towards Israel, most of which were intercepted.
Iran has threatened to retaliate against Israel for its attacks on the Iran-backed Hezbollah terrorist group.
Hezbollah has been launching rockets into northern Israel since the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack on Israel.
