Israeli military says more than 70 detained in West Bank after deadly violence
Palestinian residents said Israeli forces carried out widespread searches
Israel’s military said it arrested more than 70 people across the occupied West Bank overnight and into Saturday, one day after deploying additional troops following a wave of violence that killed two Israeli soldiers and four Palestinian villagers.
Troops remained in the northern West Bank village of Tell, where the deadly clashes erupted Friday.
Palestinian residents said Israeli forces carried out widespread searches, including raids at a hospital in the nearby city of Nablus, an area that has experienced some of the territory’s most intense violence, the Associated Press.
