Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gifts Democrat Sen. Fetterman silver pager
Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously gifted U.S. President Donald Trump a gold-plated pager.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has given Sen. John Fetterman a silver-plated pager in acknowledgement of the Pennsylvania Democrat's praise for the Jewish state's Lebanon pager operation.
Fetterman, who has been a vocal supporter of Israel, received the gift Wednesday during a visit with his wife, Gisele, to the prime minister’s office in Jerusalem. Netanyahu’s wife, Sara, was also present.
The pager is symbolic of Israel's September 2024 operation in which it killed dozens of Hezbollah members in Lebanon by hacking and detonating their pagers.
"When that story broke, I was like, ‘Oh, I love it, I love it,'" said Fetterman in thanking Netanyahu for the gift this week.
Fetterman became well-known for his support of Israel, previously stating that he wanted to bring home all Israeli hostages who were captured and brought to Gaza by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023.
"Hamas does not want peace. I unapologetically, 100% stand with Israel and demand the release of all remaining hostages," he wrote on Tuesday on X while visiting Netanyahu in Jerusalem. "Sending this from Israel."
After giving Netanyahu a framed news article about an effort to memorialize Netanyahu’s brother, the fallen Israeli soldier Yoni Netanyahu, in Philadelphia, the Israeli leader gave Fetterman the pager.
"What can I give a man who has everything? How about giving him a beeper?" Netanyahu said. "This is a silver-plated beeper. The real beeper is, like, one-tenth the weight. It’s nothing, but it changes history."
Netanyahu and his wife thanked Fetterman for his support of Israel, said the meeting was "warm and friendly" and that the Israeli leader was "moved" by Fetterman's gift.
While visiting the White House in February of this year, Netanyahu gave a gold-plated pager to President Donald Trump.
