Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday he will file a lawsuit against an Israeli newspaper that reported the president of the United Arab Emirates warned him that Hamas was planning a major offensive prior to the Oct. 7 attack. 

Haartez daily reported that UAE President Mohammad bin Zayed spoke with Netanyahu ten days before the attack, warning him that Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza at the time, was planning the operation. 

Netanyahu said on X that no conversation took place between him and bin Zayed. He said such a call would have left verifiable documentation, and a thorough investigation hasn't found a trace of it. 

"This is a sinister libel with clear political timing, as part of the left’s election campaign, and there will be more such false libels,” Netanyahu told The Times of Israel. 

In response, Haaretz said it stood by its reporting.
