JD Vance issues statement about peace deal with Iran, says there's a 'lot of fake information'
The proposed peace plan, if finalized, would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and bring the war to an end, Vance said. The deal has the potential to reshape the region and make for lasting peace.
Vice President JD Vance on Friday issued a statement, disputing inaccurate reports about the peace deal between the U.S. and Iran.
In a post on X, Vance said that there is "a lot of fake information" about the proposed peace plan, which would reopen the Strait of Hormuz and bring the war to an end. He said the deal has the potential to reshape the region and make for lasting peace.
"First, the Iranians are not receiving any cash, and no funds are being released for simply signing a deal or attending a meeting. The deal is structured to ensure that the US and its allies' concerns are prioritized, and that if the Islamic Republic of Iran meets its obligations, then economic benefits will flow to them and to the entire region," Vance said.
Vance said that he's seen a lot of "bizarre things" being reported over the last few hours, and assured people that President Donald Trump is going to get a good outcome "one way or the other."
"You can't trust a word said by the IRGC [Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps] who apparently believe anonymously sourced social media posts," Vance said.
