Netanyahu says Israel 'will stand alone' after Biden threatens weapons shipments
Biden said that U.S. bombs used in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of civilians.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday said that his country "will stand alone" if needed after U.S. President Joe Biden threatened to withhold weapons shipment if the country invades the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.
"We are determined and we are united in order to defeat our enemies and those who want to destroy us," Netanyahu said in a speech on the eve of Israel's Independence Day. "If we need to stand alone, we will stand alone."
Biden said Wednesday that U.S. bombs used in Gaza have resulted in the deaths of civilians and that he "made it clear" to Israel that if it invades Rafah, he is "not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities."
The threat does not appear to have deterred Israel, which has ordered the evacuation of about 100,000 civilians from Rafah.
