The United States condemned an attack Saturday on the airport in the Saudi capital that killed an American and 11 others and injured more than 300 as President Donald Trump said American military forces may assist Saudi Arabia in its fight against the Houthi rebels.

"We may. We're gonna look at it," Trump told reporters before a trip to a campaign rally. "We just found out about the recent attack. So we'll make a decision — we move very quickly."

Saudi authorities closed the airport in Riyadh and Secretary of State Marco Rubio condemned the attack that claimed the life of one American, whose identity was not immediately released.

"The United States strongly condemns the recent attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by the terrorist Houthis, including today’s strike on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh that took numerous innocent lives, including an American citizen,” Rubio said.

Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation said there were at least 300 injured.
