The Saudi Arabia Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman says that if Iran acquires a nuclear weapon his country would do the same.

“If they get one, we have to get one,” he said during a Fox News Channel interview Wednesday.

The prince also said the weapon would be necessary for "security reasons, and for balancing power in the Middle East, but we don’t want to see that.”

The Biden administration was reportedly in talks with Iran to restart an international deal, brokered by the Obama administration, that eased sanctions on Iran in exchange for the country winding down its development of nuclear weapon. Donald Trump as president withdrew from the deal in 2018.

However, those discussions seemed to have fallen through and as of now there doesn't seem to be interest in returning to those talks, according to The Hill.

Mohammed bin Salman said during the Fox News interview that deploying nuclear weapons is equivalent to declaring war on the world.

“Even if Iran gets a nuclear weapon, [if] any country uses a nuclear weapon, that means they are having a war with the rest of the world,” he said. “The world cannot see another Hiroshima. If the world sees 100,000 people dead, that means you are in a war with the rest of the world.”
