U.S. Central Command said on Wednesday that American forces launched a "wave of strikes" against Iran Wednesday morning.

The strikes are intended to degrade Iran's military capabilities that have been used to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, CENTCOM said

Wednesday's strikes follow actions taken Tuesday evening when U.S. fighter aircraft, drones, and naval vessels used "precisions munitions" against Iranian military targets, naval capabilities and coastal defense systems. The assault was carried out over seven hours.

President Donald Trump told Fox News on Tuesday that U.S. forces were going to hit the country "very hard," and these strikes would be followed by more on Wednesday and Thursday. The U.S. would also be targeting power plants and bridges, Trump said.
