The head of the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden said he hopes to review Russia and Ukraine documents that featured in special counsel Robert Hur's probe for any connection to first son Hunter Biden.

"The House Oversight Committee wants to know which specific documents pertaining to Ukraine and Russia did Joe Biden, in fact, mishandle?" Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said on the Wednesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show. "We want to see if those documents back some that we've seen in correspondence between Hunter Biden and some of these shady oligarchs who were wiring in millions of dollars."

"This is of the utmost importance to our investigation," he said. "It's of the utmost importance to our national security, and I think every American deserves the answers."

Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed Hur in January of 2023 to look into Biden's handling of classified documents. He testified before Congress on Tuesday that Biden "willfully" retained classified documents, implying that the president lied to reporters when he said he did not share that information. The House is conducting an ongoing investigation into the first family's business dealings.

"It's essential that we have those," Comer said in reference to the documents. "We're gonna continue to try to pursue them. We want the recordings. I was disappointed that Hur didn't answer specific questions I had as to who exactly he spoke with. He knows what we want."
