Online fundraising site set up for IRS, FBI and other law enforcement whistleblowers
The fund goes to defend whistleblowers who have spoken out against federal agencies.
A leading advocacy group for whistleblowers has established a fund to help them with their cases.
"We set up a separate website called defendwhistleblowers.com," Jason Foster, founder of the nonprofit group Empower Oversight Whistleblowers & Research said Wednesday on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast. "People can go there and donate to our law enforcement defense funds. It's a separate fund from our general fund."
EMPOWR has represented multiple government whistleblowers over the years, including Marcus Allen, a decorated Marine and former FBI employee who testified before Congress last month regarding what he believes is the politicization in federal institutions.
"Law enforcement whistleblowers – whether you're FBI or IRS –there are special challenges in representing those folks," Foster also said. "Especially when you have people threatening to criminally prosecute them, or you have the Justice Department using its security clearance authorities to retaliate against them."
The fund goes to defend whistleblowers such as IRS supervisory agent Gary Shapley who recently spoke out about the Justice Department's investigation on Hunter Biden and to other whistleblowers who have spoken out against federal agencies.
"It takes a lot more effort and resources and time to fight those cases, because they're just more difficult cases than other kinds of whistleblowers," Foster also said.
