The IRS Whistleblowers on Tuesday blasted the the special counsel’s final report on the prosecution of Hunter Biden, saying the conclusion of the long running investigation leaves many "unanswered questions.”

The whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, brought concerns to Congress in 2023 that politics was hampering the into Hunter Biden for tax and other offenses by officials both inside and outside of special counsel David Weiss’s office. Weiss was then the U.S. attorney for Delaware.

“The Weiss report leaves too many important questions unanswered, and the American people deserve answers,” the whistleblowers said in a statement shared with Just the News. “DOJ, FBI, and IRS leadership should have done the right thing from the beginning. We should not have had to risk our careers to end the preferential treatment being given to the President’s son.”

“Years later, we are still facing whistleblower retaliation. Why are we the only ones suffering any consequences? It’s time for a serious investigation, and it’s time for accountability,” they also said.

After making their protected disclosures to the congressional committee investigating Hunter Biden as part of a wider impeachment inquiry into his father, the whistleblowers faced retaliation from their agency and a lawsuit from the younger Biden’s attorney alleging they had improperly disclosed his client’s tax information.

In the special counsel report, which the Justice Department published on Monday, Weiss concluded Hunter Biden broke the law, traded on his family name to receive millions, and cheated on his taxes, vindicating the whistleblowers’ testimony to Congress.
