Harris campaign mistakenly says VP candidate Walz led House Veterans Affairs committee
An aide to the Harris campaign said that the staff on Harris's team made "an innocent mistake” with the statement.
The presidential campaign for Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris mistaken said the candidate's running-mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, while in Congress led the House Veterans Affairs committee.
Walz while serving in the lower chamber was on the committee and eventually became its top Democrat butwas never chairman.
"After 24 years of military service, Governor Walz retired in 2005 and ran for Congress, where he chaired Veterans Affairs," the statement reads, according to Real Clear Politics.com.
A campaign aide told the news outlet that staff made "an innocent mistake” with the statement.
“Governor Walz was ranking member/top Democrat on the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs,” a spokesman for the Harris campaign said.
