Congressman Abe Hamadeh, R-Ariz., honored an ISIS victim during his swearing in ceremony on Friday, 10 years after her death.

Kayla Mueller was a humanitarian worker from Hamadeh's home state of Arizona. She was held hostage for over a year after being abducted by ISIS while she was in Syria.

She was abducted Jan. 3, 2013, and died in February of 2015 after she is believed to have been raped and tortured by the jihadists, including then-ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

Mueller’s parents, who spoke at the 2020 Republican National Convention, had praised President-elect Trump for the military mission in 2019 that killed al-Baghdadi.

"This year will mark 10 years since the tragic loss of Kayla Mueller, a beacon of selflessness and courage whose legacy continues to inspire Americans across the nation. Kayla’s parents, Carl and Marsha Mueller, have borne the unimaginable pain of losing their daughter and endured years of uncertainty surrounding her fate," Hamadeh said during an interview with Fox News Digital.

Hamadeh, the son of Syrian immigrants, was sworn into office on a Bible that belonged to Mueller's family.

"As I take the oath of office, I am profoundly honored to fulfill my promise to the Muellers and the American people by being sworn into Congress using Kayla’s family Bible," he said. "It serves as a testament to her unwavering belief in light over darkness and freedom over oppression."
