Florida Rep. Steube says Congress may have a role to play in looking into political DAs like Bragg
Steube says he has a good feeling that Chairman Jordan and Chairman Comer will be very involved in looking into political district attorneys
Florida GOP Rep. Greg Steube says that Congress may be involved in investigations of political district attorneys such as Alvin Bragg who are "hijacking the justice system."
"Yeah, absolutely," Steube answered on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show when asked if Congress had a role to play in investigating political DAs. "Jim Jordan and I had a conversation about that today."
"There was a DOJ leftist attorney that they sent from the DOJ to the Manhattan DA's office," he continued. "There's clearly political motivations to all of that. There's a federal aspect to all of that."
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has been leading the charge against former President Donald Trump, who earlier this week pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records and conspiracy related to his alleged role in hush money payments to two women.
According to Steube, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer intend to do something about the politicization of the court system.
"Chair Comer and Chair Jordan intend to bring some of these people in through documents and requests for information," he said. "And if we have to, we'll bring them in and subpoena them and ask them questions."
Steube says he has a good feeling Jordan and Comer will be very involved in these investigations.
"We have an oversight authority and role on things like this when it has a federal aspect," he concluded. "So I don't think there's any way, shape or fashion that Chair Jordan and Chair Comer won't be involved in this."
