Former GOP House Speaker Ryan: ‘Trump’s not a conservative, he’s an authoritarian narcissist’

Former GOP House Speaker Paul Ryan says former President Trump, now the front-running 2024 Republican presidential candidate, says Trump is not conservative and is in fact an authoritarian narcissist whose guiding principle is to aggrandize himself.  

Ryan led the House when Republicans controlled the chamber and Trump was president. 

He made the comment a video conference interview, when asked about Trump critics Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger, House Republican who lost their seats amid their outspoken criticism of Trump, according to The Hill newspaper.

“Trump’s not a conservative, he’s an authoritarian narcissist, Ryan said. "So I think they basically called him out for that.”

He also said Trump is “a populist authoritarian narcissist,” the Hill also reports.
