House passes $1.5 trillion infrastructure bill that is expected to die in the Senate
The Democrat-backed bill is opposed by Republicans including the Senate Majority Leader
The Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday passed a $1.5 trillion infrastructure bill that is expected to stagnate in the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell strongly signaled his opposition to the bill. And while President Trump wants to pass an infrastructure package, the White House reportedly has indicated that this bill would face a presidential veto.
The legislation contains money for fixing bridges and roads, increasing access to broadband internet and more according to the Wall Street Journal. Some aspects of the bill seek to address climate change.
