The House clerk read a message from House Sergeant at Arms William McFarland on the House floor Monday that said his office had been served with a grand jury subpoena issued by the Department of Justice.

"After consulting with the Office of General Counsel, he had determined compliance with the subpoena is consistent with the rights and privileges of the House," the clerk said.

Just the News has confirmed with a congressional source that the subpoena pertains to a DOJ investigation of a House Democrats' misuse of federal funds allocated for personal security purposes.

The identify of the lawmaker has not yet been disclosed.
