House Speaker Mike Johnson on Tuesday touted some conservative legislative victories that the House passed in the 118th Congress, as lawmakers prepare to leave Washington, D.C., for the remainder of the term.

Johnson will have one last legislative fight this week: A massive federal spending bill that if passed will keep the government funded through March 14. The 1,547-page legislation will need to pass both chambers of Congress and includes over $100 billion in funding for disaster aid.

The House speaker claimed in a press conference on Capitol Hill that despite a "divided government," the Republican-led House was able to pass significant legislation that included impeaching Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over the border crisis.

"Despite divided government, the House passed important CONSERVATIVE legislation including passing the strongest border security bill and key American energy policies, blocking illegals from voting, slashing [Diversity, Equity and Inclusion], countering our foreign adversaries, impeaching Mayorkas and holding [Merrick] Garland in contempt." Johnson wrote in a post on X.

"With a Republican majority in BOTH chambers next Congress, and [President-elect Donald] Trump back in the [White House], we will finally be able to get our priorities signed into law," the speaker added.

Lawmakers will return to Capitol Hill on January 3, where a new Congress will be sworn in. Trump is expected to take his oath of office, alongside Vice President-elect JD Vance, on Jan. 20.
