Jordan seeks private testimony of top FBI official allegedly privy to whistleblower retaliation

House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio., requested that Jeffery B. Veltri, special-agent-in-charge of the Miami field office, provide closed-door testimony to address steps he allegedly took in retaliation against whistleblowers within the agency.

On Wednesday, Jordan said Veltri should answer questions from committee members are the alleged "misuse of the security clearance suspension and revocation process."

The Department of Justice Office of Inspector General reported on Tuesday that the FBI and other federal agencies security clearances from whistleblowers and did not follow federal law with respect to the proper appeals process.

"The Committee has learned that in this role, you were involved in key decisions with respect to the FBI’s adjudication of security clearance matters," Jordan wrote to Veltri, according to the Washington Times. "As such, we believe that you have information critical to our oversight and request that you appear for a transcribed interview."
