Kimberly Guilfoyle faces Jan. 6 committee subpoena
The committee claims that Guilfoyle helped raise millions for the Jan. 6 "Stop the Steal" rally.
The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol on Thursday issued a subpoena for Kimberly Guilfoyle, the fiance of Donald Trump Jr.
The panel has already sought the former Fox News host's voluntary cooperation and reports surfaced in January that the committee has already subpoenaed her phone records, along with those of former President Donald Trump's son, Eric Trump.
"Though you professed to want to cooperate, you produced only 110 pages in response to 14 document requests, and you refused to proceed with your scheduled transcribed interview on February 25, 2022, claiming you had not been previously informed that Select Committee Members could observe and participate," Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., wrote in a letter to Guilfoyle.
The committee claims that Gulifoyle helped raise millions for the Jan. 6 "Stop the Steal" rally.
On the day of the Capitol riot, she spoke with then-President Trump and was present when he spoke with then-Vice President Mike Pence, the panel stated.
"You later spoke at the rally held on the Ellipse in support of President Trump and his allegations of election fraud. You told the crowd, 'We will not allow
the liberals and the Democrats to steal our dream or steal our elections,' and were filmed backstage
prior to your speech telling people to 'Have the courage to do the right thing. Fight!'" Thompson wrote.
The committee subpoenaed six Trump-allied attorneys on Tuesday, hours before President Joe Biden's State of the Union address.
