Bipartisan team of House members parachutes from WW II-era plane over Normandy commemorating D-Day
All of the participating lawmakers are U.S. armed services veterans
A group of House lawmakers, nine Republicans and one Democrat, have joined together to parachute out of a U.S. C-47 military transport plane over Normandy, France to mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day on Thursday.
The lawmakers in the group, who are veterans of the armed forces, will wear World War II military uniforms and jump from the World War II-era aircraft.
"The fact that we're in Normandy, and you're wearing that uniform … and you're jumping from that plane that isn't what we're used to from our [service], you're stepping back in time in a way, and you're really trying to think about how many sacrifices that were made," said Rep. Cory Mills, R-Fla., according to Fox News.
