Manchin sat with GOP at SOTU to 'remind' Americans 'bipartisanship works and is alive and well'

Democratic West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin sat on the Republican side in the House chamber during President Biden's State of the Union address.

The move that drew a great deal of attention on social media.

Manchin announced his opposition to Biden's large-scale spending bill, the Build Back Better Act, last December. Manchin cited record inflation and the rising national debt as some of his concerns about the bill. His opposition led some to speculate if Manchin would become an independent or caucus with the GOP.

Just the News asked Manchin's office why he did not sit among Democratic senators at Biden's State of the Union address.
 
“Senator Manchin sat with his colleague Senator Romney to remind the American people and the world that bipartisanship works and is alive and well in the US Senate," said Sam Runyon, Manchin’s communications director.
