Marjorie Taylor Greene says Secret Service needs to be held accountable with the power of the purse
Greene said she looks forward to subpoena power being used by a task force to have more questions answered.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., said Wednesday that Congress needs to hold the Secret Service accountable with the power of the purse.
"We have the power of the purse, and we can hold [the] Secret Service accountable with funding," Greene said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show.
On July 13, former President Donald Trump was almost assassinated during a rally in Butler County, Pennsylvania. Two people were injured and one person was killed.
Last week, the House held other hearings on the security failures that failed to yield substantial information. Former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned shortly after her appearance before the House Oversight Committee.
Concerns regarding the Secret Service security at the July 13 rally included an agent not being on the building that the shooter used to aim at Trump because it has a sloped roof and local police's lack of communication with Secret Service.
"All of these things are evidential proof that there was something more than just a deranged gunman set on killing President Trump," Greene said.
She said she looks forward to subpoena power being used by a task force to have more questions answered.
