Maryland Democrat Sen. Ben Cardin to retire

Maryland Democratic Sen. Ben Cardin is retiring as he does not plan on seeking reelection in 2024, ending his half-century career in office, his communications director said Monday.

Sue Walitsky, Cardin's communications director, told The Washington Post that the senator will say more about the matter Monday afternoon.
