Rep. AOC warns forcing Biden out could result in 'enormous peril' for Democratic Party
"If you have an opinion, say it with your chest and say it in public," she says about Democrats leaking information to journalists about Biden anonymously. "That's a bunch of horses---."
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., said on Thursday that forcing President Biden to step aside carries many risks for the Democratic Party.
"There is no safe option," Ocasio-Cortez said during an Instagram live video late Thursday night after former President Trump's GOP convention address. "I have not seen a scenario, an alternative scenario, that I feel does not set us up for enormous peril."
Ocasio-Cortez said she is against an "open convention" in August.
"I think that is crazy," she said.
She also said Harris would be preferable as a replacement for Biden but not everyone in the party favors that strategy if Biden were to drop out.
"I'm just going to say it: If you think that there is consensus among the people who want Joe Biden to leave... that they will support Kamala, Vice President Harris, you would be mistaken," she said. "They are interested in removing the whole ticket."
The congresswoman slammed Democrats who are speaking to media outlets anonymously and not taking ownership of their criticism of Biden remaining in the race and not stepping aside.
"That's bulls---. If you have an opinion, say it with your chest and say it in public," she said. "That's a bunch of horses---."
