Ruben Gallego brings in nearly $22 million in third quarter of Arizona Senate race

Democratic Arizona Rep. Ruben Gallego, who is running for Senate, raised nearly $22 million in the year's third quarter, his campaign revealed on Thursday.

Gallego is facing former Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake for the swing state seat, which is currently held by Independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, who is not seeking reelection. The race is considered one of the biggest races of the 2024 election cycle, where Republicans are hoping to flip control of the Senate. Other vulnerable Senate seats include West Virginia, Montana, Ohio, and Maryland.

The Democrat's campaign announced that he had raised $21.7 million between July and September, and that the vast majority of those donations (95%) equaled $100 or less, The Hill reported.

“Arizonans know we need Ruben Gallego in the U.S. Senate, which is why over 437,000 small-dollar donors have chipped in to support the campaign,” Gallego's campaign manager Nichole Johnson said in a press release. “Because of their generous support, we are going to defeat Kari Lake and send a Marine combat veteran with a lifetime of service to the Senate.” 

Lake has not released her fundraising numbers for the third quarter so far, but candidates have until Oct. 15 to make their campaign finance filings.
