House Homeland Security Committee sets date for second Mayorkas impeachment inquiry hearing
GOP-led committee is holding hearings because they think Mayorkas has grossly failed to secure the U.S. border amid record illegal immigrations
House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green said Friday the panel's second inquiry impeachment hearing on Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas will be Thursday.
“This hearing will examine the consequences of Secretary Mayorkas’ intentional border crisis to Americans across the country, with testimony from those who have been impacted by his refusal to enforce the laws of the United States,” Green said.
The GOP-led committee is holding impeachment inquiry hearings because they think Mayorkas has grossly failed to secure the U.S. border amid record illegal immigrations.
House Democrats and others argue the accusations against Mayorkas for which Republicans are trying to impeach him fail to meet the threshold of “high crimes and misdemeanors,” which has historically been grounds for impeachment.
