Senate Judiciary Chairman Graham to invite Mueller to testify, after Trump commutes Stone sentence
Mueller, who led the federal government's Russia collusion probe, says Stone is still a 'convicted felon'
Sen. Lindsey Graham says he’ll ask special counsel Robert Mueller to testify before his Senate Judiciary Committee, following Mueller’s recent statements about the Russia collusion probe he led.
Graham, a South Carolina Republican, is chairman of the committee and will ask Mueller to testify at the request of Senate Democrats.
Graham announced his plan Sunday, one day after The Washington Post published an op-ed from Mueller in which he defended his office's prosecution of Roger Stone in the probe. President Trump late Friday commuted Stone’s 40-month prison sentence, on seven federal charges related to the probe.
"He remains a convicted felon, and rightly so," Mueller in his opinion essay wrote about Stone.
"Apparently Mr. Mueller is willing – and also capable –of defending the Mueller investigation through an oped in the Washington Post," Graham tweeted.
