Senator fears some 'insane enough' to follow professor's call to shoot men who don't vote Harris
The professor made the comments during a rant in a class earlier this school year
Kansas GOP Sen. Roger Marshall warned Thursday that some people are "insane enough" to listen to a University of Kansas professor who said men that do not vote for for Democratic presidential candidate Vice President Kamala Harris because of her gender should be "lined up" and "shot."
The professor made the comments during a rant in a class earlier this school year, and has been placed on administrative leave amid an internal probe. A video of incident began circulating Wednesday on social media.
If you think "guys are smarter than girls, you've got some serious problems," the professor says in the video. "That's what frustrates me. There are going to be some males in our society that will refuse to vote for a potential female president because they don't think females are smart enough to be president.
"We could line all those guys up and shoot them. They clearly don't understand the way the world works."
Marshall has called for the professor's firing at his state's flagship university. The university has condemned the comments but says the professor intended to advocate for women’s rights and equality but did a poor job of it.
In a separate statement on Thursday, the senator, who is an alumnus of the college, slammed the university and media outlets for downplaying the remarks, after the school said the comments included an "inappropriate reference to violence."
“A professor calling for the shooting of people who do not vote for Kamala Harris is beyond the pale," he said in a statement shared with Just The News. "As we’ve seen with two assassination attempts against [former] President [Donald] Trump, some people are insane enough to follow through on these sick fantasies. The professor’s statements are simple to condemn, and his employment easy to sever.”
Marshall has also argued the instructor should not be allowed "within 100 yards of a university."
