GOP congressman says Democrat Rep. Tlaib among 'Hamas sympathizers,' wants her banned from briefings
"We must not allow Hamas sympathizers in this body to serve as the mouthpiece for Palestinian terrorists," Rep. Jackson wrote in a letter.
Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib is facing a call to be barred from going to congressional briefings about Israel after she sided with Gaza regarding a recent explosion in Gaza that damaged a hospital and resulted in casualties.
"I demand that Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib be prevented from participating in any classified briefing about Israel's ongoing military operations, Israel's self-defense efforts, or any American military movements in and around the region," Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, wrote in a letter obtained by Fox News Digital.
Earlier this week, it was reported that there was a hospital bombed in Gaza in which over 500 people died. Hamas and the Israel Defense Force blamed each other for the incident and there are now reports that only a parking lot was hit by the strike.
Tlaib, a Michigan lawmaker and among the first Muslim women to be elected to Congress, blamed Israel for the incident.
"Israel just bombed the Baptist Hospital killing 500 Palestinians (doctors, children, patients) just like that," she posted on the social media platform X: "@POTUS this is what happens when you refuse to facilitate a ceasefire & help de-escalate. Your war and destruction only approach has opened my eyes and many Palestinian Americans and Muslims Americans like me. We will remember where you stood."
Jackson accused Tlaib of being a Hamas sympathizer in his letter addressed to House Speaker Pro Temple Patrick McHenry and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
"We must not allow Hamas sympathizers in this body to serve as the mouthpiece for Palestinian terrorists. Rather than condemn the attacks by Hamas, Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has chosen to side with Hamas by spreading misinformation," he wrote.
