Trump endorses Army veteran Sam Brown in Nevada's GOP Senate primary
Winner of the GOP primary is expected to face Democrat incumbent Sen. Jacky Rosen
Presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump late Sunday night endorsed Army veteran Sam Brown in Nevada's Republican Senate primary
"Sam Brown is a FEARLESS AMERICAN PATRIOT, a Purple Heart Recipient, who has proven he has the 'PURE GRIT and COURAGE to take on our Enemies, both Foreign and Domestic," Trump wrote on Truth Social, his social media platform.
Trump has praised Brown throughout the election cycle but didn't not give him a full endorsement hours earlier at a campaign rally in Las Vegas. Brown is also backed by the National Republican Senatorial Committee and faces a primary challenge from Trump’s former ambassador to Iceland, Jeff Gunter.
The winner of Tuesday's primary is expected to face Democrat incumbent Sen. Jacky Rosen, with control of the Nevada seat pivotal in whether her party keeps control of the Senate or loses it to Republicans.
Democrats Hillary Clinton won the Nevada in 2016 and Joe Biden won it in 2020.
