Actor James Beeks acquitted on Jan. 6 charges after entering Capitol with Oath Keepers

Actor James Beeks was acquitted on Wednesday of charges related to the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta presided over the bench trial after prosecutors reached an agreement to drop three felony charges and a misdemeanor in exchange for avoiding a jury trial in Washington, D.C., The Hill reported.
Beeks entered the facility alongside members of the Oath Keepers group. He stood trial with group member Donovan Crowl as a co-defendant, though Crowl was convicted of conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding and civil disorder. His defense had argued he was merely a tagalong and unaware of the group's intentions.

He had originally represented himself, but allowed attorney Greg Hunter to defend him prior to the trial's conclusion.
