Family members of the 21 people killed in the 2022 mass school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, said Wednesday they have reached a $2 million settlement with the city over the massacre.

The plaintiffs also plan to file similar lawsuits against dozens of Texas Department of Public Safety officers and Uvalde's school district, according to CBS News

The victims – 19 students and two teachers – were killed by a teen gunman at Robb Elementary School.

Though law enforcement officers killed the gunman in a classroom, they and their commanders were sharply criticized for waited over an hour to confront him.

In the settlement, the city of Uvalde will pay $2 million to the families of 17 children killed in the shooting and two children who survived, according to a statement from the families' attorneys
