Former chief of Staff Roy McGrath was reportedly apprehended in the Knoxville, Tennessee, area on Monday evening.
A former chief of staff to ex-Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has reportedly died from a gunshot wound during his capture Monday evening in an FBI manhunt.
The attorney for the former Hogan aide, Roy McGrath, said the FBI confirmed his client's death.
Attorney Joseph Murtha also said McGrath was wounded while being confronted by law enforcement agents, following the manhunt that began last month after his client failed to appear for trial, according to the Associated Press.
Murtha, also said it's clear whether McGrath’s wound was self-inflicted or came during an exchange of gunfire with FBI agents.
McGrath was reportedly apprehended in the Knoxville, Tennessee, area on Monday evening.
The manhunt began after McGrath failed to appear in a Maryland court March 13.
He was indicted 2021 on charges of having fraudulently secured a $233,648 severance payment, equal to one year of salary as the leader of the Maryland Environmental Service, by falsely telling the agency board the governor had approved it, the wire service also reports.
