Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan to testify ahead of possible Trump indictment
Trump said last week that he expects to be indicted in Willis' probe.
Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan, a Republican, said he will testify this week before the Fulton County grand jury investigating efforts to challenge the 2020 presidential election results ahead of a possible indictment of former President Donald Trump in the state for his alleged role in those efforts.
"I can confirm that I have been requested to testify before the Fulton County grand jury on Tuesday. I look forward to answering their questions around the 2020 election," Duncan tweeted Saturday. "Republicans should never let honesty be mistaken for weakness."
His testimony comes as part of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis' probe of whether Trump and his supporters allegedly broke state laws while challenging then-candidate Joe Biden's win in Georgia.
Trump, who has been accused of pressuring local officials to find votes in his favor, said last week that he expects to be indicted in Willis' probe.
On Sunday, Trump posted on Truth Social: "The only Election Interference that took place in Fulton County, Georgia, was done by those that Rigged and Stole the Election, not by me, who simply complained that the Election was Rigged and Stolen. We have Massive and Conclusive Proof, if the Grand Jury would like to see it."
Trump has already been indicted federally on charges related to the 2020 election to which he has pleaded not guilty.
