Ghislaine Maxwell to appear, via video, in court on Tuesday
The ruling today will determine whether Maxwell stays in jail while awaiting trial
Ghislaine Maxwell, former girlfriend and alleged co-conspirator of the late Jeffrey Epstein, will appear via video at her bail hearing on Tuesday.
Her attorneys have requested that she be released on a $5 million bail, on account of the risk of contracting coronavirus in jail.
She was arrested in New Hampshire by federal agents on July 2. She is accused of assisting Epstein's efforts to groom and traffic minors. If convicted, she could face up to 35 years in prison.
The federal indictment says that Maxwell "assisted, facilitated, and contributed to Jeffrey Epstein's abuse of minor girls by, among other things, helping Epstein to recruit, groom and ultimately abuse victims known to Maxwell and Epstein to be under the age of 18".
