Richard Grenell picked by Trump to be Presidential Envoy for Special Missions
“Ric will work in some of the hottest spots around the World, including Venezuela and North Korea,” Trump said in a statement.
President-elect Donald Trump announced on Saturday night that he has named Richard Grenell to serve as his Presidential Envoy for Special Missions.
Grenell served in Trump’s first administration in several capacities. He served as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany, as Trump’s Presidential Envoy for Kosovo-Serbia Negotiations, and as the head of the Office of Director of National Intelligence, according to The Daily Wire.
The job is a high-ranking diplomatic position that often deals with sensitive and high-priority foreign policy issues.
“Ric will work in some of the hottest spots around the World, including Venezuela and North Korea,” Trump said in a statement.
“Previously, he spent eight years inside the United Nations Security Council, working with North Korea, and developments in numerous other Countries,” Trump said. “Ric will continue to fight for Peace through Strength, and always put AMERICA FIRST.”
Grenell, 58, a cancer survivor, earned a B.A. from Evangel College and an M.P.A. from Harvard. He is greatly admired by Republicans for his blunt “tell it like it is” style.
“Richard Grenell is a superstar,” Trump said in 2020. “He had guts, he had courage to do what he did. Richard Grenell has done one of the best jobs I’ve ever seen.”
