Disgraced movie producer Harvey Weinstein appealed his sexual assault conviction in California.

Weinstein's attorneys filed the appeal in California’s Second Appellate District on Friday, according to The Hill.

The attorneys argued that their client “stands wrongfully convicted of sexually assaulting Jane Doe 1.”

Weinstein was convicted on three charges of sexual assault in 2022 in a Los Angeles case and was later sentenced to 16 years in jail.

This appeal comes after a New York court overturned Weinstein's 2020 sexual assault and rape conviction in April of this year.

The New York Court of Appeals ruled Weinstein didn't receive a fair trial in a 4-3 decision

The court said some of the women who testified made accusations against Weinstein that were not related to the charges at the heart of the case.
