Hunter Biden to be sentenced in federal gun case on November 13
U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, who oversaw Biden's gun trial, said that any requests for a deviation from the standard sentencing guidelines need to be turned in by Oct. 30.
A federal judge on Friday announced that first son Hunter Biden will be sentenced in his federal gun case in November, approximately a week after the next presidential election.
The first son was found guilty in June on three federal felony gun charges, for lying about his illicit drug use on his application to purchase a firearm six years ago.
U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika, who oversaw Biden's gun trial, said that any requests for a deviation from the standard sentencing guidelines need to be turned in by Oct. 30. Noreika will determine the sentence, but federal guidelines recommend a prison sentence of between 15 to 21 months.
Biden will need to serve time in prison, and faces up to 25 years in jail along with up to $750,000 in fines. Since he is a first time offender, he is not expected to get the maximum penalty. Sentencing has been set for Nov. 13, according to The Hill.
President Joe Biden, Hunter Biden's father, said he will not pardon his son in the case or commute his sentence. But Hunter Biden's lawyer Abe Lowell said his client intends to “vigorously pursue” all available legal challenges.
