Judge rules feds cannot force Louisiana, Mississippi to offer workers accommodations for abortions

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission issued the rule that include abortions as pregnancy-related conditions under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act.

David Joseph, a federal judge, granted a preliminary injunction in a case brought by two states and Catholic organization to halt a federal rule that would have forced them to provide accommodations to their workers for abortions.

The two lawsuits were brought by the attorneys general of Louisiana and Mississippi as well as the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, Catholic University and two Catholic dioceses.
