Manhunt for Connecticut college senior suspected in killing spree moves to Pennsylvania
The University of Connecticut senior has allegedly killed two people since Friday
The manhunt for the University of Connecticut student suspected of killing two people on a weekend killing spree led investigators Monday to Pennsylvania where the suspect was apparently spotted walking along railroad tracks.
The suspect has been identified as Peter Manfredonia, 23, a senior from Sandy Hook, Connecticut.
The Pennsylvania State Police released a photo Memorial Day of a man that appeared to look like Manfredonia walking Sunday along the tracks, with a duffle bag slung over a shoulder, in the city of East Stroudsburg.
Authorities say Manfredonia is armed and dangerous, having perhaps injured or killed at least one of his victims with a sword or machete.
A family attorney late Monday made a plea for Manfredonia to surrender.
The spree began Friday when Manfredonia allegedly killed 62-year-old Ted DeMers and assaulted another man in Willington, Connecticut, after they found him walking along a road and offered him a ride back to his motorcycle, according to the Associated Press.
The second homicide victim has been identified as Nicholas Eisele, who was found dead Sunday in Derby, Connecticut.
Manfredonia has also purportedly left a trail of survivors, including the man who survived the first attack.
Manfredonia purportedly on Sunday before killing Eisele, held a Willington, Connecticut, man against his will before taking food, guns and the man’s truck, which was later found abandoned.
And he allegedly abducted Eiseles girlfriend, a 23-year-old woman, using her vehicle as a getaway car and leaving her unharmed, according to the wire service. Authorities say Eisele was an acquaintance of Manfredonia.
