The Louisiana Supreme Court of Friday denied a challenge from abortion providers to the state's abortion ban, ruling that the prohibition on the procedure may continue.

The June Medical Services LLC had filed an emergency application to challenge the state's law, though the court released a simple, three-word response, saying "writ application denied," per the Epoch Times.

Louisiana maintained a trigger law that would immediately ban abortion following the overturn of the landmark abortion precedent established in Roe v. Wade that guaranteed a right to the procedure. A number of judges previously blocked the ban's implementation when the Supreme Court gave such a ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson.

“Abortion remains illegal in Louisiana. I am pleased with the Court’s decision and will continue fighting to end this legal circus," state Attorney General Jeff Landry said of the Friday ruling.
