Elon Musk and Pete Buttigieg discuss hurricane assistance amid allegations of aid being blocked
Musk accused the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of "failing to adequately help people in trouble, [and] actively blocking citizens who try to help," in a post to his social media site X on Friday morning.
Elon Musk and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Friday discussed allegations that the federal government was blocking flights trying to bring Starlinks to Hurricane Helene victims, after a source of Musk's claimed the airspace was "shut down."
The issues first arose on Wednesday, after former first daughter Ivanka Trump handed out Starlinks, hot meals and critical supplies in North Carolina.
Musk accused the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) of "failing to adequately help people in trouble, [and] actively blocking citizens who try to help," in a post to his social media site X on Friday morning.
Buttigieg denied the allegations in a response to the post, stating that “no one is shutting down the airspace and FAA doesn’t block legitimate rescue and recovery flights. If you’re encountering a problem give me a call."
Musk later posted that the pair had a call, and said he hoped they would reach a resolution "soon," but did not include any other details on what the conversation covered.
Former President Donald Trump praised Musk's devotion to helping Americans stranded in Georgia and North Carolina by providing them with Starlinks in a statement to Just The News.
“Georgia and North Carolina were begging for this equipment. They had no communication, and desperately needed it. Elon was able to produce immediately - A Miracle, and this is what happened," he said.
