FAA issues safety alert to airlines over Boeing 737 rudder issue
The issues with the components could lead to a limited or jammed rudder, the agency said.
The Federal Aviation Administration announced on Tuesday that it issued a safety alert to airlines regarding issues with rudder components on certain Boeing 737 aircrafts.
The issues could lead to a limited or jammed rudder, the agency said.
According to Reuters, the National Transportation Safety Board said last week that more than 40 foreign air carriers might be operating Boeing 737 MAX or 737 Next Generation planes with the rudder components in question, which poses a safety risk.
The FAA's alert to airlines gives them information on ways to "identify limited or jammed rudder movement during approach prior to landing," Reuters reported.
