Kash Patel's hearing for FBI director to take place next week
Mr. Patel is the wrong choice to lead the FBI," Sen. Dick Durbin said.
President Donald Trump's nomination for FBI director, Kash Patel, will have his hearing next week on Jan. 30.
The hearing will take place at 9:30 a.m. EST, according to a press release from Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.
Patel faces an uncertain confirmation as many Democrats do not support him. It is unclear how much support he has from GOP senators.
The Senate Judiciary Committee's top Democrat, Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin, has said he will oppose the nomination of Patel.
“Mr. Patel’s political grievances make him a favorite of the MAGA world, but they have not prepared him to work night and day to keep us safe from violent crime, drug trafficking, terrorism, and other threats," Durbin said, according to The Hill newspaper. "Mr. Patel is the wrong choice to lead the FBI.”
Tulsi Gabbard's hearing for director of national intelligence will also be taking place on Jan. 30.
